Elevator Hoistway Lighting
LED Elevator Hoistway Lighting
What are you doing to comply with IBC requirements for Hoistway lighting?
Under IBC 3007.5.2 this is required for Fire Service Access Elevators. I would love to get your feedback as to common solutions?
Is this being enforced in your area?
This picture shows LED lighting from Giovenzana. It comes in a continuous strip hung down the length of the hoistway. Contact me for more details.

4 年I'm intrested to learn more about the LED lighting used in the elevator hoist and I also would like to know if there is a need for low voltage connection (?) to activate the hoist lighting when fire-fighters' emergency operation is active. Finally, are the hoist fixtures required to be wired to emergency generator source?

5 年We have a few Fire Service Access elevators on campus at The University of Texas at Austin. Each has the automatic lighting as required. We also have a specification of 5 foot-candles to light the entire hoistway for maintenance purposes, so we are well above the 1 foot-candle of the building code. What you have pictured looks to be about 10 foot-candles which to me seems excessive; Fire service elevators only need the hoistway lit so that first responders can find a car stalled in the hoistway, and? since the top of the car (where any mechanic will be working) has a light as well, the combined light sources will brighten the space plenty.
