On 17 September, we will join the World Health Organisation and our customers in marking World Patient Safety Day.

This day emphasizes the global significance of patient safety and promotes collaboration among healthcare industry stakeholders. For everyone at Zimmer Biomet, patient safety and well-being is our highest priority, and we’re proud to align ourselves with this year’s theme: ‘Engaging Patients for Patient Safety.’

Every patient deserves comprehensive care and education throughout their entire healthcare journey. To bring to life how we’re prioritizing patient safety and care, I wanted to share some of our industry-leading initiatives and technologies available today...

Rapid Recovery is a Pathway Optimisation Program refined over the past two decades in more than 200 hospitals across Europe. It helps hospitals optimize the care pathway, while improving patient outcomes, and creating better experiences through their surgical journey – like helping them to achieve safe mobilization for a quick return to daily activities. Rapid Recovery integrates seamlessly into our comprehensive platform, ZBEdge, by providing data and insights needed to execute change.

The program requires a strong collaboration between hospitals and Zimmer Biomet specialists, who help execute the changes needed through standardized medical protocols and best practices. Rapid Recovery helps to achieve a safe, efficient, and sustainable recovery – and is just one way that Zimmer Biomet helps patients prepare for surgery and tailor their experience to meet their needs including aftercare, follow-up treatment, and rehabilitation.

2.??????mymobility?: Empowering Patients?

Zimmer Biomet's mymobility? care management platform provides a guided and connected patient experience with automation, data monitoring and insights. Health care professionals use its data-driven insights to monitor patient progress and make timely interventions and adjustments to their care plan.

Unlike traditional evaluations (that provide limited insight), mymobility? captures a comprehensive view of patient recovery through the measurement of factors such as gait quality and intensity.

mymobility? also empowers patients through education, surveys, and physical therapy instruction videos. With mymobility?, we are enhancing patient safety through patient education, remote monitoring, use of Artificial Intelligence, telemedicine, and by establishing a continuum of care.

3.??????Advancing Infection Management for Safer Orthopaedic Care

In our pursuit of further enhancing patient outcomes, we recognize the importance of addressing infection management head-on. It's paramount to elevate infection management on hospitals' agenda and establish a resilient array of solutions. In partnership with healthcare professionals, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation to craft cutting-edge technologies, products, and services tailored to the intricacies of orthopaedic infection management.

4. Fostering Scientific Dialogue

The services provided by the Zimmer Biomet Institute offer more than just training on the safe and effective use of our products; we organize thought-provoking educational events that explore pressing questions, such as whether all the problems in arthroplasty have already been solved, or what should be done in cases that aren't black and white and where standard approaches are not sufficient.
