Market Insights
Whilst unfortunately, we weren’t drinking Rose at Cannes, we have pulled together some insights from this year and some of the skills in demand from many of the agencies and clients we work for.
These trends illustrate the increasingly vital role of AI, creativity, personalisation, influencer marketing, and community engagement. This comes as no surprise to us as these are the key skills many of our clients seek when recruiting new talent into their businesses.
Whilst the market is not the most buoyant with senior roles being scarce, some agencies making redundancies or implementing pay freezes we are also working with companies bucking the trend – agencies winning multiple pitches, others diversifying, launching new divisions, and being at the forefront of what is new or what will be new.
So yes, there are fewer roles out there, but there are exciting opportunities out there for those who embrace the combination of data and creativity, for those who are learning to use new technology, and for those passionate and brave enough to try out different ideas.
GenAI
AI is critical for enhancing creativity and personalising content at scale. We are finding an increased demand for AI and Machine Learning experts: candidates who understand and can implement AI to create and personalise content effectively. For these roles, we are looking for candidates who have strong skills using AI tools, machine learning algorithms, data analysis, and programming languages like Python and R.
Personalisation
This is always important; but remains crucial for deeper and more targeted customer connections and enhanced marketing effectiveness using data and AI. Employees with skills in CRM are essential to analyse customer data and develop highly personalised marketing strategies. Data mining, customer segmentation, CRM software understanding, and customer journey mapping are key in this area, in tandem with the creation of highly creative, engaging and relevant content.
Creators & Influencers
Collaborating with creators and influencers is key to expanding reach and engagement for many brands. This is an area where we have seen an increase in the number of roles we are being briefed on such as Social Media Strategists and Influencer Marketing Managers. Businesses and brands who have seen the value of these skills and have built and maintained relationships with influencers and understand the creator economy are seeing a strong impact on brand engagement and solid returns on that investment.
Connected Communities
Building and nurturing connected communities drives loyalty and growth, through inclusivity, representation, and social impact. By utilising equity-centred design to engage marginalised groups, companies can foster inclusivity and representation. To effectively build and manage these connected communities, companies are looking to recruit community managers, engagement specialists, equity-centred designers, and content creators.
In essence most of our clients – whether marketing agency or brand are looking for marketers who can work across integrating data, technology, and creative strategies. They are looking for candidates who are adaptable and committed to continuous learning to keep up with evolving trends and technologies. Those who have embraced new technologies and new ways of thinking are in most demand.
