Over the weekend, my wife, sister-in-law, our children, and I embarked on our 2024 journey, one which stirred the depths of our hearts—a visit to a local children's home. The air was filled with innocence and resilience as we encountered children of all ages, from the tiniest of more than twenty newborns to those stepping into the realms of high school - a total of sixty-four children.? All the children here were once abandoned, finding solace and a second chance at the children's home, a beacon of hope and restoration.
The experience was humbling, to say the least. As we brought along our children during the visit, it became more than a mere act of charity; it transformed into a moment of profound learning. In the eyes of those little souls, we witnessed both the fragility of life and the strength that comes from unity and support.

My first lesson:?The visit prompted an enhanced reflection on gratitude - one that extends beyond mere acknowledgment. It's about recognizing the privileges we often take for granted and appreciating the simple joys that life has bestowed upon us.
My second lesson:?In the moments spent with these incredible young souls, we hope we planted seeds of compassion and empathy in the hearts of our children – as well. We aimed to instill in them the honor of giving and the understanding that the true measure of wealth lies not in possessions but in the impact we have on others' lives. A lesson for our children.
My third lesson.?A Call to Action, so, here's to a moment of reflection, to go and give, not just once, but whenever the opportunity arises. In the spirit of gratitude, let's be mindful of the advantages we possess and strive to create a safer world where the beauty of shared humanity shines brighter than ever.
The time is now. Let's DO. SOMETHING. GREAT, together.
