Assam is advancing educational standards with the launch of the State School Standard Authority (SSSA), setting a new precedent for quality across schools in the state. NAAC has also introduced several updates in higher education accreditation. To support rural and remote colleges, NAAC’s latest initiatives include reduced accreditation fees, tailored criteria, and mentorship programs to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in education (Source: The Hindu). Starting in December, NAAC will roll out the Maturity-Based Graded Accreditation (MBGA) System, categorizing institutions into five levels, with the top tier awarded the prestigious status of “Institutions of Global Excellence.” This change is intended to foster continuous improvement in education and research (Source: Hindustan Times).

In a further effort to expand its impact, NAAC has introduced the NAAC Social Responsibility (NSR) Initiative, focusing on skill-building and employability for both school and college students. During a workshop at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University , NAAC Chairman Prof. Dr Anil (D) Sahasrabudhe highlighted the transformative role of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Indian higher education. Aiming to bring 90% of institutions into the accreditation process within five years, the NEP aligns educational frameworks with national development goals (Source: Times of India). Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde also emphasized the importance of NAAC in education, encouraging institutions to align with the “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision and prepare students to be job creators (Source: India Today).
