Elevated Insights: What They Are and What They Show

You ever catch yourself thinking, “If only I could see my mistakes as they happen, I’d be so much better at avoiding them”? Well, I’ve been playing around with this idea I call “Elevated Insights.” It’s a simple but effective way to get better at noticing things as they happen — not in hindsight, but in real-time. Imagine this: You’re going through your day, but instead of just living it, you’re also watching yourself from about 100 feet above, like a drone, seeing everything unfold with clarity.

It sounds a little out there, but hear me out. This is all about creating a bit of distance from yourself so you can really notice what’s going on. You’re not just reacting blindly — you’re observing your own behaviors, catching patterns, and even spotting mistakes as they happen.

So what are Elevated Insights? It’s kind of like splitting yourself in two. One part of you is living in the moment, while the other part is watching from above, checking in on how you’re doing. And the best part? It cuts down the time between making a mistake and learning from it. Instead of getting to the end of the day and thinking, “I wish I’d handled that better,” you catch yourself in the act and can actually do something about it while it’s happening.

Here’s what you start to notice:

  1. Your automatic reactions — You’ll begin to see how you respond to stuff — stress, frustration, even joy — without thinking. That drone view helps you pause for a second and pick a better way to react.
  2. Opportunities you might’ve missed — There are always little chances to learn, grow, or connect that can slip by unnoticed. When you’re observing from above, you get to catch those moments as they happen.
  3. The challenges you create for yourself — We all do it — get in our own way, whether it’s through procrastination, self-doubt, or just making things harder than they need to be. The elevated view helps you spot when you’re the one laying down roadblocks.
  4. Your emotional ups and downs — Emotions are tricky, right? But if you can step back and see your emotional patterns as they unfold, you’re better equipped to manage them before they take control.

What I’ve found with Elevated Insights is that it keeps me present and gives me a new way to see how I’m living my day-to-day. Instead of just reflecting at the end of the day, (week or even year) and thinking about what went wrong, I can adjust while I’m in the middle of it.

It’s like having a cheat code for learning and growth — why wait to learn from your mistakes when you can catch them in real-time?

Try it out and let me know how you find it!
