In a recent keynote which I delivered, the theme and topic of change arose. Personally, I find that the rate of change in the changes we are experiencing warrants us to look at how we manage and handle change with a new set of lens.
Even way back around 500 BC, it was the Greek philosopher Heraclitus who reminds us that, "The only constant in life is change." And while I am sure we can all agree on this wisdom, however, I do feel that the degree at which things are changing during these current times requires us to deal with changes differently.
In the keynote, I spoke about the 5 keys that is needed for us to elevate and transform during these dynamic period. In particular, I spoke about the need to 1) Elevate your Purpose and Transform your Life, 2) Elevate your Leadership and Transform your Team, 3) Elevate your Relationships and Transform your Community, 4) Elevate your Habits and Transform your Mind-&-Body and finally, 5) Elevate your Goals and Transform your Reality.
For this article, I will be focusing on "Elevate your Habits and Transform your Mind-&-Body". As an empowerment coach who deals within the facets of business, executive and life coaching, I know that the degree of our success in life stems from the quality of habits that we have. After all, our habit determine our future in a significant manner.
And when it comes to the formation of habit, we need to be conscious of what it is that we want to instil into our subconscious. As we form good habits, it is important to remind ourself that while we should be aware and mindful of what we are doing to cultivate the habits, there is no need to be overly self critical and overly self conscious to the point that you start looking at the flaws you are having rather than applauding the progress you are making.
When it comes to developing good habits for the body, one vital area to focus on is your nutrient intake. We will only have one body in this lifetime and it is vital that we take care it. There is a need to be conscious of what you are consuming because out of it comes issues of body vitality and vigour.

As someone who graduated with a medical degree, I can safely say that the consumption of sugars in developed counties, including Singapore, is way too much and that has led to many mobilities in our human body. One of the simplest way to improve the quality of health is basically in creating sustainable habits in reducing sugar intake.
When it comes to developing good habits for the mind, one of the vital area to look at is in us regulating the level of stress at home, work and the community. Our modern VUCA world will be getting much more volatile, complex and complicated given the advent of so many AI-programmed tools and applications and I believe the best way to manage this is to prepare and be resilient in our mental framework against all manners of mental pressure and tension.
But of course, the question will always be, "Will there be a reward to all of these habits that I am acquiring?" And the answer will be a resounding YES! For it is through these better habits that will, over time, result in better performance in all areas of life which you have applied your habits unto.
I look forward to a better version of you in your very near future!
