Top 7 FAQ about the plastic shell model in FEM-Design

Earlier this year, we introduced plastic analysis as a material non-linearity module in FEM-Design 23. By using the plastic shell model in FEM-Design to compute 3D shells of reinforced concrete and structural steel, you get an accurate and realistic structural analysis that offers material savings and increased safety ? —an outcome that’s challenging to achieve with manual calculations for complex structures.

To help our users better understand what the plastic shell model can do, we’ve compiled a list of the top 7 questions we’ve received. ?? Click here to see our answers.

Experience the future of bridge engineering with 3D Bridge

The new 3D Bridge module in FEM-Design combines fast, object-based modeling with clear load positions and traffic load results. Plus, with IFC import/export and Grasshopper/C# integration, modeling has never been more enjoyable.??

Are you eager to experience the future of bridge engineering with 3D Bridge? Use it in your projects to analyse pedestrian, road, and railway bridges according to EN 1991-2 standards.

PRE-Stress: the Gapa project

The Gapa project in Romania is a great example of how engineers are using the PRE-Stress software in their design of prestressed concrete elements. Using PRE-Stress, the engineers at Gapa Projects improved their efficiency by automating checks at various stages and sections, particularly useful for calculating crack width and importing DWG files for complex sections.??

"PRE-Stress saves a lot of time on checking intermediary sections and stages, from release to final stages in ULS. We can cover a large number of situations for release, transport, erection, secondary element erection, short- and long-term ULS checks," said Bogdan Buzaianu, Managing Partner and structural engineer.?

How to import the Display options from the previous version in FEM-Design

Display options settings are saved separately for each FEM-Design version. However, you can import saved Display options settings from one version to another, such as from FEM-Design version 22 to version 23, by following 4 certain steps. ?
