empowHERed is teaming up with the Philadelphia Union and The Venn Collective (TVC) to host the Becoming a Better You Leadership Summit at Subaru Park on March 21 from 8:45 am-1:30 pm! Targeted at students, young professionals, and emerging leaders, the event will feature a panel of executives, athletes, and sports and organizational psychologists, including:

Attendees will continue learning throughout the day with panelist-led breakouts, a networking lunch, a personal branding seminar, and leadership and confidence workshops. Get your tickets here!

Our March Mentor of the Month is Nicole M. Pawlak, MBA , Senior Director of Special Projects at Athletes Unlimited! Her favorite part of her job is building new verticals within the league with no existing blueprints, as well as the amazing partners she's had the opportunity to work with throughout her career. In her free time, you'll find her working on her golf game, playing tennis, going on bike rides and hikes, and playing water polo!

?Nicole's top piece of advice for aspiring sports industry professionals: "Network and don’t be afraid to pivot! If it’s not the right industry, job, boss - pivot! Careers are not linear. Don’t be afraid to see what you are passionate about!"


New and Noteworthy This Month

  • Meet the team - We’re so excited to introduce our spring interns, Kylie Augis and Ruby Naylor ! A junior studying digital/print journalism at 美国宾夕法尼亚州立大学 , Kylie returns after first joining us (and crushing it) in the fall. Meanwhile, Ruby is a senior at 美国纽约大学 , where she's studying politics and broadcast journalism with a concentration in sports media.

  • ESPN joins the Mentor Program - We are thrilled to partner with ESPN to grow our mentor program. Members of the Women @ ESPN employee resource group have joined the program to help expand our mentor network and support members as they explore the various roles and opportunities available in the sports industry.
  • Welcome, University of San Francisco - ?Welcome to our latest college partners, the University of San Francisco ! We look forward to partnering with the sport management department to provide unique development opportunities and resources for their students.

Nicole M. Pawlak, MBA I absolutely LOVE your advice. Although I do say the word pivot in Ross from Friends' voice every time I use it, it's so true and necessary for people to avoid that "stuck" feeling.
