Elements of a webpage!

Creating a usable webpage is as important as creating a webpage that is aesthetically pleasing, and follows a syntax of display. This ensures that the user is more likely to stay and go through our content without any inconvenience.

These are various elements that together make a web page:

Header:

This is the top section of a webpage that holds strategic importance because it is supposed to provide a summary of what the whole page is about and makes user navigation easy. A user can get a gist of the whole page by spending some concentration on the header.

Headers are also known as menus as they contain the checkpoints required to navigate the whole page.

It can include menus, brand logos, sign up, login, links to social networks, search field etc.

CTA (Call To Action ) button:

These are the buttons that are intended to grab the attention of the user so that they can perform an action by clicking that button like buying products, subscribing, submitting information, etc.

These are user interface elements that convert a passive user into an active one, and are especially made attractive by the programmers to grab attention.

Hero Section:

This section is present in the pre-scroll area that contains a message, an image or video or any other element that is intended at doing primarily two things:

  1. Grab hold of the user's attention by providing a visual hook
  2. Be able to indirectly urge them to scroll further?

Footer:

Unlike the header, footer is the bottom part of the web page that marks the end of the website.

It contains additional links and information and, at times, social media handles that the user might be interested in.?

It can also be used for crediting the website creator, testimonials and badges, etc.

Slider

These can be understood as interactive slideshows built into the website. It is especially popular in e-commerce websites for displaying products, announcing sales and discounts, etc.

They provide visual hooks to the user and also help save space on the page.

Internal Search

This functionality helps users search for content inside the web page hence, making browsing efficient.

Menu

Menus are one of the core navigation elements present in web pages. It is like the index of a textbook that highlights different sections of content present in the web page.

A well-designed menu can significantly speed up achieving goals and satisfying needs that lay a solid foundation for a positive user experience.

Breadcrumbs:

These are the secondary navigation elements present primarily in websites containing multiple web pages. It makes the user aware of their navigation status around the web site.

It increases the usability of the web sites by making navigation efficient.

Form:

These are interactive elements that are used to accept user information. Forms are primarily used during sign ups, sending feedback, making payments, availing a subscription, etc.

This feeds the backend of a website with the user information and doesn't necessarily make a significant change in user experience. It serves as a form of digital communication between the user and the website.

Media (Video, Audio, Slider, Images, GIFs, Memes etc)

Most websites primarily include images as the only form of media, but with the progress of web development we observe all of the above mentioned media become a part of a web page somewhere.

Sliders are used in education websites to add presentation slides and memes have become a user favourite opted mostly by entertainment based websites.

Links

Many web pages include links to different websites containing information they have referred to.?

Tags are also used which provide internal links to different sections or products inside the web page. It acts as another navigation element that makes user experience more efficient.
