Highest-ever Value Added Product (VAP) domestic sales achieved!

The Aluminium Sector marketing team achieved the highest-ever VAP sales within the domestic segment, our preferred market, during the month of July. The team succeeded in selling nearly 98% of the total VAP portfolio produced at BALCO and Jharsuguda (Plant-1). These include our world-class billets, wire rods, Primary Foundry Alloy, and rolled products, which are also exported to 50+ countries.?

Enhanced materials movement technology inducted at Jharsuguda

Vedanta Jharsuguda has recently unveiled a new Alumina holding Silo Interconnection Belt Conveyor Facility, which ushers in a host of advantageous outcomes. It has led to a notable reduction in turnaround time and contributed to a significant enhancement in a usable inventory of Alumina, ensuring smoother operations. Additionally, the installation has resulted in reduced auxiliary power consumption, thanks to the streamlined process.

Taking our mission to help beat cancer in remote areas, now on wheels!

BALCO has launched a Mobile Cancer Detection Van which is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including Mammography, Pap smear tests, and Brush Cytology, in addition to expert consultations & General check-ups. It will help raise awareness in rural areas on early detection, and mitigation of cancer. The launch kicked off with a cancer screening camp that drew over 100 BALCO employees and community members.??

A special day to ensure that every day is Safety-First

The Suraksha Sankalp Diwas is celebrated at Vedanta Lanjigarh on the 1st of every month. As a part of this initiative, a mass awareness campaign is organized throughout the plant premises to enhance knowledge of safety precautions that they need to adopt. Through this program, the unit seeks to inculcate a safety culture into the teams. For the month of July, it focused on the theme of Machine Guarding & Excavation Safety.?

Reducing changeover times to enable faster, efficient production

The Wire Rod Mill at BALCO helps in producing wires of several diameters, as per the requirements of different sectors. Converting the mill parts to manufacture these different sizes was previously a significant effort that took at least 4-5 hours. Through several process modifications, the BALCO team has now achieved a massive reduction in the changeover times to a mere 20 mins.

Smarter maintenance through digitalization at Lanjigarh?

As part of its asset management practices, the team at Vedanta Lanjigarh reviews the preventive maintenance schedule on a yearly basis, resulting in frequent changes to the maintenance plan. Previously, the changes needed to be manually incorporated for each piece of equipment separately. The team has now developed a program that allows the planner to carry out the changes in mass mode, reducing update times by 95%.

Dhokra Art goes national, travels from Odisha to Jammu & Kashmir

Dhokra is an ancient art form that is over 4000 years old, now nurtured under Vedanta Lanjigarh's Art & Culture initiative. Our unit was privileged to be invited to showcase this art form at the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) in Kashmir recently. Organized by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, it was the only one from Odisha to be represented at the widely participated event.

Vedanta Jharsuguda helps guard rural communities against monsoon illness?

Vedanta Jharsuguda initiated a week-long awareness campaign to educate the community on the prevention and management of major water-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, and diarrhea, which are prevalent in the region during the monsoon season. Undertaken by expert medical professionals through its Mobile Health Unit (MHU), the initiative focuses on identifying symptoms, deploying mitigation measures, and timely medical care.

Shree Jagannath Mandir inaugurated at Vedanta Meadows township in Jharsuguda

Vedanta Jharsuguda celebrated the grand inauguration and consecration ceremony of the newly constructed Shree Jagannath Mandir at its township, Vedanta Meadows, Jharsuguda. Spanning an expansive 19,500 square feet area, the auspicious ceremony was enhanced by the presence of Mr. Pratap Keshari Deb, State Minister of MSME, Energy & Industries, Odisha, Ms. Alka Mohanty, MLA Brajrajnagar, and Ms. Dipali Das, MLA Jharsuguda.

Immersive yoga session organised to foster overall well-being

BALCO collaborated with experts from the Isha Foundation to organize an immersive spiritual awakening session through yoga, encouraging employees to embrace transformation at the workplace. The session promoted holistic well-being by imparting simple but impactful yoga techniques. It helped nurture increased mental wellness and physical vitality.
