An Electrifying Year

An Electrifying Year

As we marked the re-opening of our amazing Factory ZERO manufacturing facility in Detroit yesterday, the excitement was undeniable. And thinking back through 2021, the progress we’ve made toward an all-electric future is incredible. We began the year by sharing our commitment to bringing “Everybody In” and all year long we repeatedly reaffirmed that an all-inclusive, all-electric future is the right thing to do — for our customers, our company, and the world.

Electrifying our vehicle lineup has also created an opportunity to earn new customers and to grow beyond the vehicle with new ways to leverage our technology platforms and our expertise. As I discussed at Barclays Global Automotive and Mobility Tech Conference, we are better positioned than anyone else to scale the EV future. With 30 EVs coming to market by 2025, we are truly at an inflection point. ?

Our dedicated Ultium battery platform — recently named Fast Company's 2021 Next Big Things in Tech — really unleashes our design and engineering teams’ talent and capabilities. We’re not just taking our gas-powered vehicles and converting them to electric — we’ve freed our design team from the constraints of a gas-powered platform, allowing them to create stunning vehicles from the ground up that look unique and suit the future of our brands. And we’re already seeing enthusiasm from customers over the technology, design and pricing our EVs offer.

Ultium also enables us to create a huge breadth of vehicles built off the same platform, from a high-volume compact vehicle or crossover to a super truck. As we roll out the first of our new generation of EVs, such as the GMC HUMMER EV later this year and Cadillac LYRIQ early next year, they’ll represent incremental growth across our luxury consumers. We’ll then follow up with volume entries, such as a Blazer EV, to build momentum, market acceptance and share across the U.S.

To help get our communities ready, we’re investing $750 million through 2025 in EV charging infrastructure to help make charging seamless and convenient at home, at work and on-the-go. As part of this investment, we created the Dealer Community Charing Program to help our more than 4,000 dealers install charging in their communities, accelerating charging across every corner of the country — including underserved, rural and urban communities.

And we aren’t just stopping at EVs. As a part of our growth strategy and as a platform innovator, we are expanding and unleashing our EV technology to provide zero-emission solutions beyond automotive. The heavy trucking, locomotive and aerospace industries are already harnessing the Ultium platform and?HYDROTEC?technology as more sustainable alternatives.

We believe the electric future is now and we plan to lead the U.S. and the world. From driving an Ultium-powered EV to taking a HYDROTEC-powered train to charging at an Ultium Charger, GM has what it takes to bring ‘Everybody In’ on an all-electric future. ??
