Electrified Ecosystems: Powering the electrification of public transport
Electrifying transportation requires much more than just the substitution of obsolete, carbon-fuelled vehicles with electric ones.
Enel X designs and builds entire electric transport ecosystems for governments and local authorities as well as public and private transport operators. We serve more than 5,000 electric busses and a growing network of almost 2,000 charging stations worldwide.
The benefits of electrification of transport include reduced emissions, lower cost of fleet ownership, reduced noise pollution, enhanced brand reputation and new, ancillary revenue generation opportunities.
Ged Ward , Business Development Manager E-Bus, UK Region, recently presented to an audience of 80+ transport industry professionals in London at Zemo Partnership Zero Emissions Bus Workshop.
This in-person event showcased the experiences of Transport UK London Bus working with Enel X and the teams at Cleaner Group , Wrightbus , Rock Road and ESP Utilities Group Ltd to successfully overcome the obstacles and challenges associated with introducing a fleet of electric vehicles and the associated charging infrastructure into a conventional bus depot.
The workshop was followed by a site visit to Abellio's Twickenham depot in West London. Transport from the workshop to the depot was onboard one of 30 new Wrightbus Streetdeck Electroliner busses that will operate from this location.
"We look forward to our continued collaboration with Abellio at this and other depots as a trusted energy partner, helping them navigate the transition to electrified transportation and contribute to the Government’s net zero targets."
