Things to know about electric vehicles (EVs)
There are three primary types of electric vehicles:
1. BEV: Battery-electric vehicles are powered by electricity stored in a battery pack.
2. PHEV: With plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, an electric motor and sizable rechargeable battery are combined with a gasoline or diesel engine.
3. FCEV: The electricity needed to power the motor in fuel cell automobiles is created by splitting hydrogen molecule electrons.
Batteries and plug-in hybrids receive electricity from power grids, which are fuelled by fossil fuels and renewable sources. The carbon footprint of electric vehicles is smaller than that of gasoline-powered cars, regardless of where the electricity comes from.
Electric vehicles have the benefit that many of them can be recharged wherever - whether you're at home, at work, or at the store, electric vehicles can be charged anywhere.
The adoption of electric vehicles is a vital step towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment for current and future generations.
