The Electric Shift: How Volvo is Shaping the Future of EVs

Sixty years ago, in 1963, a young and charismatic?John F Kennedy, President of the United States visited Germany. During his visit to Frankfurt, he delivered a speech outlining a vision of a transatlantic partnership, a vision that still defines U.S.-German relations today. In his speech at the Assembly Hall at the Paulskirche he said, "Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future."

Change is a strange beast - it's both daunting and thrilling at the same time. Change is a must for innovation and should be embraced - not feared. And one sector that is changing very fast is the #Automobile industry. The challenges associated with rising fuel prices, changes in #emission rules, #climatechange and the convergence with the latest digital technologies have made this sector one of the most exciting industries to watch. At its core, change is the art of creating new and improved solutions that make the world a better place. And for change to be successful, it takes more than just ideas and vision. It takes the right leaders in the right place, individuals who possess a unique blend of vision, passion, and experience. And one company that has ticked all the boxes, constantly changing and innovating is none other than Volvo.

From its humble beginnings as a small #Swedish car manufacturer in the 1920s, #Volvo has transformed into a global leader in automotive engineering. Through its relentless pursuit of innovation, it has become a symbol of safety, reliability, and sustainability.

Volvo was the first to introduce the three-point safety belt in 1959. In 1991, Volvo introduced the Side Impact Protection System (SIPS). In 2006, they introduced the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS). Volvo has committed to putting 1 million EVs on the road by 2025 - and ensuring 50% of their sales in fully electric in the same year.

In 2022, 31% of Volvo's car sales were made up of EVs and hybrid cars and aims to be a pure EV maker by 2030.

In #Australia, Volvo has two fully electric models available for buyers - The C40, and XC40. The EX90 is expected to be launched in 2024. So what does Volvo bring to the table? Let's find out.

The C40 Recharge is a 5-seater with a large fixed panoramic glass roof. It comes with a 5-star ANCAP rating - Dual frontal, side chest-protecting and side head-protecting airbags, driver knee airbag, and centre airbag which provides added protection to front seat occupants.
