OK, so using the Jimi H. Album name in the title is a little cheap, but this segment of cars in general isn't by any means cheap. However it is the probable start of more mass-market acceptance of electric vehicles, both in North America and wider.
This Forbes article is a nice intro into looking at Tesla's achievements to-date, beyond the product hype and the company valuation, particularly as it compared Tesla to the other majors in automobile production. And by achievements I'm a firm believer in delivering (albeit with the problems of manufacturing that Tesla have had on the Model 3) and therefore sales comparisons are the best gauge.
I like the articles comparison against other manufacturers to product/range level, and maybe indicates more the mass market appeal that the company has already engendered feeding through to the market reality... something that Musk has long championed whilst struggling to get the 3 out the door.
Of course looking at the detail...I'd get a Guilia, or maybe an XF ahead of the Tesla, but I wouldn't choose many of the other models. No surprises there for those who know me!
