Electric Holidays – Better Than Ever
The summer holiday season has started. Last year, 76% of all Germans were using their car to get to their holiday destination. This doesn’t only mean traffic jams on the most popular roads to the South – but also potentially queues at the #charging #stations along the highways. Or does it?
#EV drivers will be enjoying the benefits of some recent good news. While gas prices are traditionally going up during the holiday season, especially fast-charging has become cheaper recently. Many providers have reduced their prices – and I’m proud to say that they are also covered by Digital Charging Solutions . As an example, IONITY has reduced prices for fast charging at their 3,800 charging points in 24 countries. Fast charging also means that cars are nearly recharged to full capacity within 15-20 minutes.
According to @BDEW’s last electric mobility monitor people have better access and more choices when it comes to charging and fast charging than ever: occupancy rates of charging points remain at 12.5% on average (between 3% and 23%). Last year, the number for installed charging points grew by 40% - and fast chargers even grew by 50% to over 12,000 fast charge points. Based on the current number of electric cars on German roads, there should be 2.7 GW installed charging power in Germany according to EU regulation. With currently available 5.3 GW Germany is nearly 100% ahead (!) of that goal. Most of this charging power has been installed by private enterprises – and without public investment programs. This underlines the attraction of electric mobility.

There is also good news for those who still suffer from range anxiety when driving abroad. Today, over 630,000 charge points are available in the European Union. People want to plan ahead to check the availability of stations and to check the charging fees ahead of their journey.
The services provided by Digital Charging Solutions GmbH are covering over 700,000 charge points across all of Europe. Solutions like Plug & Charge are making the experience ever better. If onboard with award-winning OEM solutions or through apps like CHARGE NOW for Business and CHARGE NOW, EV drivers can charge with their RFID cards or apps.
Enjoy your #electric #holiday and let me know what you loved about it – or if you still encountered any problems.
Great read! I’m surprised how far Germany is ahead regarding the installed charging power. Leaves me with an optimistic feeling about our journey towards sustainable energy!
