Commercial Electric Vehicles - UK
Commercial Vehicle Manufacturing first came to the UK around 1939 to 1955, with a number of businesses starting to supply military and commercial vehicles to the UK Market. Since then commercial vehicle manufacturing has reach over 100,000 vehicles being produced on a yearly basis.
Companies like Stellantis are leading way having produced over 50% of the yearly figures since 2021. Other companies contributing to the sector include Dennis Eagle UK , Alexander Dennis , Ashok Leyland , all producing over 17,000 vehicles in 2021.
With the Electric Vehicle Movement hitting the UK, a number of companies have made it their mission to deliver cleaner technologies for the growing demand. From Vans to HGV's, the UK market is exceeding expectations with the diversity of capabilities coming from a number of specialist companies:
Volta Trucks , Arrival , London EV Company (LEVC) , Lunaz , HVS (Hydrogen Vehicle Systems) , Tevva Hydrogen Electric Trucks
So my question is...
“How do you see the development of Commercial EV's changing the UK landscape over the next 10 years? And which companies emerging in this space do you believe will be most impactful?”
Electric Vehicle of the Week
Lunaz - UEV
Lunaz, an Electrification company based at Silverstone in the UK, is one of the market leading businesses converting ICE Commercial Vehicles to Electric Power.
Since being founded in 2018 they have been at the forefront of EV news in the UK, showcasing their expertise on their Classic Car conversions and now on Commercial Vehicles.
As a concept, Lunaz ticks all the boxes for Clean Mobility and the Upcycling movement sweeping the globe.
By developing their own EDU's and Powertrains in-house, they are able to completely re-engineer the vehicles to ensure maximum efficiency, durability and performance.
David Lorenz , founder and chief executive officer of Lunaz, believes that the most sustainable vehicle is the one that already exists, which is then upcycled to run on electric power. He says:
“The more raw materials, the more carbon we use, the less likely we are to recover from the environmental impact we’ve caused to-date by scrapping previously manufactured cars, trucks and other fleet vehicles.”
I hope to see Lunaz continuing their uphill momentum and with the UK's EV Legislation Deadline fast approaching, I am sure we will see their Vehicles in abundance on the roads in the not too distant future.
