Elections can shine light on dark hidden corners!
Next week, UK political parties will be publishing their manifestos for the General Election. Readers ?will ?be looking for ideas and policies that could impact well or less well on their work and home life.
Often hidden from public view, however, are countless “manifestos” produced by campaign and pressure groups as well as voluntary organisations which aim to influence and shape public policy in the years ahead. Often these organisations send out questionnaires to prospective parliamentary candidates and/or organise public meetings in their constituencies. Good local and national visibility can result from ?published surveys and media events.
I am collecting a compendium of these publications and today throw a spotlight here and elsewhere on the “Respect Manifesto”. A link can be found below.
Respect is the UK charity who are focused on stopping perpetrators of domestic abuse. They want a world where everyone is free from domestic abuse.
Respect have four key policy points:-
1.????? Fund specialist service provision in every local area
2.????? Prioritise data and evidence
3.????? Make justice work
4.????? Focus on prevention
Each of the four points is explained and illustrated with evidence as well as reasoning in the nine-page document. Links to this and the shorter version below. Contact details are there as well. There is also a link here to the UK Domestic Abuse Act 2021 published by HM Government.
