Election Equanimity

Election Equanimity

Economic issues at the forefront. The question of popular vote vs. electoral college. Questions on turnout.

These were some of the things that marked the Presidential election of 1840.

One day, well in the future, what happened on November 5th, 2024 will matter as much as what happened from Friday, October 30 to Wednesday, December 2, 1840 (yes, that’s how long the voting period was).

It’s easy to get caught up in the tension of this moment.

But it’s also an opportunity.

It’s an opportunity to practice equanimity, to practice observation.

To watch the results and the reactions in the way one might watch a movie about William Henry Harrison’s election.

I suspect, no matter where your political leanings may be, it may also be healthier.
