A man asked the Enlightened one, “Oh, the Enlightened one, please tell us how to maintain our sanity during long and bitterly fought election season”.
The Enlightened one smiled and said as under:
Only those who have a favorite leader undergo the agony of a bitterly fought election. Others are peaceful.
Those who have a favorite leader should understand that all leaders are a combination of white and black and therefore, represent different shades of grey. Everyone has a strong reason to look at someone as his/her most desirable leader. Therefore, one should not try to convince the other about why his leader alone is the right one. Trying to do so is futile.
Finally, the common man and woman of the country exercise their votes and the leader is elected. The electorate, although comprising of large number of illiterate or uneducated masses, have shown tremendous maturity and political acumen in selecting the right leader to suit the needs of the country at specific points of time in the past. Therefore, there is no need to feel anxious about who will win the election.
Be ready to accept the verdict of the people whether it goes according to your liking or not. Remember, everything is written.
This is how you can remain peaceful, the Enlightened one concluded
