Election Day buzzed like a thousand bees, With opinions flying, dividing the breeze. The TV blared, but offered so little, So I grabbed the leash, left the fiddle-faddle.
We headed to past grounds, to an old known route, The “School Path” walk — familiar and stout. 6 miles down memory’s lane, Where all looked fresh but felt the same.
Blue skies stretched wide, winds calm and kind, A gentle balm for a chattering mind. And the showstopper? A record to see— Twenty-three turtles waved back at me!
After our journey, a quick Costco stop, Stocked up on groceries till the cart was topped. Then off to unwind, happy hour in sight, With Jake Owen playing, spirits light.
At home, the wars of Westeros played, While real-world battles awaited replayed. Then back to the neighbors, to share and laugh, With cheese boards, cocktails, a joy-filled draft.
Finally, the screen held Election Gameday, With eyes wide, we watched history play. And while big things loomed and the world felt grand, We cheered the little things we could hold in hand.
