Election Day - A Day of Celebration
The sun will still rise on Wednesday morning!

Election Day - A Day of Celebration

Today is Election Day, and while I have spent most of the election season wishing this day would come quickly so the madness would end, now that the time has come for the people to render their decision, I have decided to approach my vote not as an unpleasant obligation, but as a celebration.

I celebrate the opportunity to select the men and women who will serve us in elective office, because the annals of human history tell us that most governments have not sought the consent of those they govern.

I celebrate the right to vote because people protested, petitioned, went to prison and died to ensure that people who look like me could freely cast their ballots.

Finally, I celebrate the God who directs the hearts of kings wherever He wishes, who holds all authority in heaven and on earth, and who will still be on the throne when Wednesday morning comes.

Whether you like the results or not, it is a thing to celebrate -- where else in the world could this happen and everything continue to operate without violence and with hope?
