Electing to choose

You may have chosen Trump. And you may have not.
You may not have been in a position to choose a candidate but you will have felt the impact of the US election.
Chances are that your limbic brain, which is designed to alert you to threat or reward five times per second, has been working very hard. The media circus will do all it can to fan those flames.
What does this mean for leadership?
You do have a choice today and its one that goes way beyond casting a vote.
It may be tempting to ask ‘what should I do?’ but before you do anything, first choose how you want to ‘be’. Only you can do that and it's a conscious decision.
Calm, level-headed thinking is critical to lead in such uncertain times. Choosing how to ‘be’ focuses your behaviours and attitude and aligns the actions that follow. It gives your executive functioning brain the best chance to work and spares you possible 'amygdala remorse'.
What will you choose today?

8 年Thank you for voicing this, Pia. I choose to be calm, compassionate and connected. Allowing me to work on an inspiring vision that goes far beyond what happened yesterday and beyond what might happen in the next little while. I hope that many others will join me in this endeavour. WE will need even more collaboration and creativity.
