"Eleanor's Toast"
Over the years, many kind and respectful folks have asked if it would be okay to use this toast at various ceremonies. Please, please do. I write every word to be shared and make smile (or whine smile emoticon ).
But, may we call it "Eleanor's Toast" in honor of my Mom, and mention her name each time? It was originally written for Eleanor Veronica Larkin Heffron, and so it would be a wonderful tribute to her if anybody got any use out of her toast over the holidays...or whenever in the future...So please, please do use "Eleanor's Toast" as you raise your glasses this year, or any year, in memory of those...It is sincere and authentic:
"Eleanor's Toast"
For those who have passed,
We take up our glass,
We still hold them close;
They're the ones we miss most.
They're not in the past.
Their memories will last.
So to them we now toast,
Here's to the ones we miss most!
