A decade of dedication turned educator and leader Nick Elam, Ph.D. into a basketball game-changer. An avid sports fan, he set out to improve an annoyance basketball fans have long accepted because there was no alternative: the fourth-quarter foul-and-stall dance with the clock. The Elam Ending shifts the focus from managing time to driving toward a target score. It keeps games fluid and exciting up until the last shot. But it took Nick over a decade to convince anyone to try this new format on the court. All that time taught him a thing or two—namely, the importance of perseverance and presenting features in terms of benefits. Nick joined Jess Carter on the Data Driven Leadership podcast to share insights on initiating change, challenging the status quo, and earning stakeholders’ attention.?
