A decade of dedication turned educator and leader Nick Elam, Ph.D. into a basketball game-changer. An avid sports fan, he set out to improve an annoyance basketball fans have long accepted because there was no alternative: the fourth-quarter foul-and-stall dance with the clock. The Elam Ending shifts the focus from managing time to driving toward a target score. It keeps games fluid and exciting up until the last shot. But it took Nick over a decade to convince anyone to try this new format on the court. All that time taught him a thing or two—namely, the importance of perseverance and presenting features in terms of benefits.
