EKURHULENI RATES OBJECTIONS 2021 - Ensure you get the value right to save money on your municipal rates account

“One residential property in Edenglen that we manage has just been revalued in the latest Ekurhuleni Valuation Roll from R2,1 million to R 10,330,000. Failure to object and correct this error would result in the monthly rates increasing by R7,214 pm”.
Property owners should take note of dates when General Valuation Rolls (GVR) of a municipality are open for inspection in order to act timeously should there be any matter in, or omitted from, the Valuation Roll against which they need to object. Ekurhuleni Metro currently has its Valuation Rolls open for inspection from 23 February to 16 June 2021.
Despite rebates and allowances that exist, an incorrect value, even by a small amount of R100,000 can result in additional monthly cost as follows:
Residential: R127 pm; Commercial & Business: R253 pm; Industrial: R317 pm; Pensioners with 40% rebates will pay R127 pm additional per R250,000 of value
