A Proof of the Gravitational Deflection of Light by the Sun
The general theory of relativity (published in 1915), which is Albert Einstein’s geometric theory of gravity, is regarded by many scientists as the “most beautiful of all existing physical theories.”
In this article, I describe one of the classical tests of general relativity, arguably the most famous one, which is the bending of light by the Sun as shown below.

4 年Very nice article as a walthrough of the mathematics of the theory. Maybe suggest to intersperse -- or in a brief conclusionary recap -- the value and application of these findings as regards current studies of expansion and evolving structure of the universe, and relevant insights into dark matter. This will give a bit more context and umph for the theory's importance and usage -- the deeper implications of its beauty. ...and as an aside, I love the insights and ideas you share in this community.
