Be Einstein For A Day

Be Einstein For A Day

This is the 16th in a series of articles by The Golf Gadfly intended for anyone who is interested in the BUSINESS of golf... this one offers you an opportunity to get you mind traveling faster than the speed of light in an effort to grow the game.

I’m not as smart as Albert Einstein.??You probably aren’t, either.??His mind moved faster than the speed of light.

But today, we can all be Einsteins.??How???By emulating one of his favorite activities… the “gedanken” or thought experiment.

A gedanken is used in situations where it would be difficult to carry out the experiment in the real world, but where there is value in visualizing what would happen if the experiment were carried out.

Here’s our gedanken for the day. Think of anything that you enjoy doing but that takes a little advanced planning… meeting some friends for a happy hour, going on a long bike ride or…?playing a round of golf!

Now imagine that you normally get invited to do that thing you like to do once a week… or maybe only a couple times a month… or maybe even less than that.

Now imagine that at some point in time the number of invitations that you get to do that thing that you like to do accelerates so you are suddenly receiving multiple invitations a day.

Don’t fret… those invitations aren’t cluttering up your inbox or text message queue… they are neatly organized in a pile that you can access anytime you want from your smartphone.

Would those daily invitations likely incent you to do that thing that you like to do more often???How much more often???At least one more time a year???One more time a month???One more time a week?

Ok… the first experiment is over.

Now let’s apply the experiment to the specific example of playing a round of golf. Most golfers I know would like to play more often.

What if every golfer who lived within 50 miles of your golf course and/or who visited your website or social media pages began to receive invitations to play golf every day?

And we’re not talking about general marketing like “hey, come out and play our course sometime”; each of these invitations would be an invitation to play at a specific time at a specific course… and some of the invitations would be posted several days ahead of time so the golfers could do a little advanced planning if they chose.

What if those invitations resulted in the average golfer playing a few more rounds of golf each year… let’s say an average of an extra round every few months… an additional 3 rounds a year?

What if the average greens fee/cart fee for those rounds was $40… it would be much more than that at some courses and somewhat less than that at some courses, but $40 is a reasonable average.

If all those “what ifs” came true golf course operators would generate an average of an additional $300,000 per year in revenues.

Now let’s exit the gedanken and perform this experiment in the real world.

Your golf course can participate in this real-life experiment for $500 per year by using a tool enabling you to issue invitations to play at specific times to tens of thousands of golfers every day.

Are you interested in learning more?

If the answer is yes or even maybe, please send a message to [email protected].

Let’s work together to make your course and golf in general?more inviting.

Go ahead… tell your friends and family that you were Einstein for a day.

And if you spend $500 and generate $300k in additional revenue, maybe you are smarter than Einstein after all!

Good read, Mike. Hopefully, course operators continue to recognize the magnitude of the opportunity that you're presenting them with.
