Eight Questions to Help You Refocus

Eight Questions to Help You Refocus

Running a business isn’t just about putting out fires and chasing opportunities—it’s about building something that lasts. That means having a clear vision, a solid plan, and the discipline to stay on course.

Here are eight powerful questions to help you step back, refocus, and move forward with confidence:

1. What are your Core Values?

Your values are the DNA of your business. Choose 3-7 guiding principles that define who you are. Then, use them to make decisions, hire the right people, and reinforce them in your team’s daily work.

2. What is your Core Focus?

What drives you? What’s your sweet spot? The most successful companies resist distractions and say no to anything outside their focus. Do the same, and you’ll see a greater impact.

3. What is your 10-Year Target?

Dream big but be specific. Where do you want to be in a decade? Make it measurable, inspiring, and adaptable as the world changes.

4. What is your marketing strategy?

Who do you serve best? What makes you different? Keep your messaging simple and consistent—because clarity attracts, and confusion repels.

5. What is your 3-Year Picture?

Picture your business three years from now. What does success look like in terms of revenue, team growth, and customer impact? Make sure your team sees it too—alignment is everything.

6. What is your 1-Year Plan?

Break it down. Set 3-7 key priorities for the next year, make them measurable, and ensure everyone on your team knows them inside and out.

7. What are your Quarterly Rocks?

Think of Rocks as your 90-day sprint. What must be done to move your vision forward? Keep it focused, assign clear ownership, and review progress weekly.

8. What are your issues?

Solid framework here. The concept of facing reality and prioritizing is key - so many get lost in what they want to do vs what they should do & what they can realistically do.

Seeing the 3-year picture puts everything into context. No more putting out fires, just putting in the work to get where you want to go.
