eIDAS2 EUDI Wallet ETSI / CEN seminar
The ETSI/CEN seminar on European digital identity standards currently held in Sophia Antipolis is a unique opportunity to discuss the various use cases considered by the eIDAS2 Large Scale Pilots, including the payment use case that is of considerable relevance for every day digital interactions (see photo).
If this topic is of interest, Michael Adams and I have written an article that explores the promises - and challenges - of the Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) EUDI wallet functionality for payment interactions, especially in view of the forthcoming Payment Services regulation due to be adopted in 2025. We take the view that the new SCA approach brought by the eIDAS2 regulation heralds identity-based payments that will have a transformational impact on payments and help achieve several of the European policy objectives.

6 个月The discussions on the first day has shown that, while the progress is remarkable, the big picture is way too big. We need a killer app to bootstrap adoption by citizens before trying to find standards on the certification of all the pieces of this giagantic puzzle. Kudos to ETSI/CEN for organising this seminar that is of tremendous value, but completing the standardisation on things like oid4vci/oid4vp may be the first bricks to factor in before going after things like certification of relying parties.
