Egypt: Egypt lifts all entry restrictions related to COVID-19

On June 16, Egypt lifted all entry restrictions related to COVID-19 for all tourists, that is, it is no longer necessary to provide COVID-19 vaccination certificate or negative nucleic acid test certificate within 48 hours when entering Egypt, and no longer carry out rapid nucleic acid test at all ports of entry in Egypt. Nader Saad, spokesman of the Egyptian cabinet, said in a statement that the decision was made by the Egyptian Supreme Council for crisis management of epidemics and health epidemics according to the epidemic situation in Egypt and abroad.

The statement said that in recent months, the daily average number of confirmed cases and deaths of COVID-19 released by the Egyptian Ministry of health has dropped to single digits. The government has provided people with nearly 86.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine and 4.5 million doses of enhanced vaccine. It added that there are nearly 57.5 million doses in reserve for continuing vaccination activities.??

1. Are there any restrictions on vessels whose previous port call was from COVID -19 high risk countries?

? As per latest regulations with respect to COVID-19, the following documents must be sent by vessel masters direct to their appointed agent to be submitted to the quarantine office with sufficient time before vessel calls the Egyptian ports for cargo operations, for stay, or transit Suez Canal with the South or Northbound convoys:

1- Crew list including date/port of joining of each crew member.

2- Last ten ports of calls list

3- Vessel’s pharmacy medical report for 14 days

- Please note that for any vessel coming from infected ports for transit via the Suez Canal /calling Egyptian ports, a special committee from quarantine will board the vessel for inspections before allowing boarding of any other party.

? Vessels arriving at Adabiya, Alexandria , Damietta are checked by quarantine officer at outer anchorage

? Agents handling any vessel with last port in China are requested to inform Port Authority/Quarantine to prepare required safety measures.

2.1 Crew change permitted?

- Airlines have the right to deny travelers if they display any symptoms of COVID-19

- COVID-19 Testing facility for on-signers / off-signers is now available upon request to be booked 48 hrs in advance on a first come-first serve basis. Test results are ready within one working days.

- Vessel must receive quarantine free pratique for crew to embark/ disembark

- For crew signing off, confirmed ticket must be provided to authorities to allow for crew disembarkation

- The Chinese embassy has announced that starting from 27 May 2022 all Off-signers need to be quarantined in Egypt for 5 days at designated hotel nominated by airlines prior flight departure, no exceptions.

- PCR Test is required for Chinese off signers before departure. IGM test is no longer mandatory.

- Medical assistance can be arranged by boarding doctor (shore leave pass for visiting hospital/doctor is not allowed)

2.2 Shore leave permitted?

? No

- Shore leave passes are suspended by quarantine department till further notice.
