Is Egypt Safe?
I'd say that about 95% of the time, whenever I tell people that I promote and arrange journeys to Egypt, the first question, without fail, is "Is Egypt Safe?"
I've grown numb to the stupidity of that question and always courteously respond with "Yes, of course it is. I'd not be so invested in promoting an unsafe destination and putting travelers in harm's way." And I stay true to my point of view. From where I stand, after having visited Egypt more times than I care to count, I honestly feel that EGYPT IS SAFE!
I have not once written a piece on LinkedIn but today, I find it my moral obligation to do so.
If you've paid attention to my posts, you will note that I am very active in promoting and arranging travel to Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Turkey, Oman, and sub-Sahara Africa. And I do so with much passion, because I believe in these countries deserve positive exposure and visitors, because each is filled with kind, caring, gentle people who only want to please their guests.
Lately, you may have noticed that I am creating a series of streaming TV episodes for Timeless Journeys TV which starts streaming in the fall to a global audience. The pilot episode is about how to plan a 7-day journey in New York City. I feel that anything shorter than 7-days most anywhere is simply a waste of time ... slow travel in my opinion has become the new luxury, and we'll be doing the same filming for the countries that I promote.
So you'll understand my irritation this morning when I wake to this headline news!
"NYC Times Square shooting leaves tourist hospitalized, suspects at large"
We're all working nonstop at promoting travel to try and resuscitate our industry and since I live facing New York City, I too have a vested interest in resuscitating travel to the City by way of New York City Tourism USA.
Then I wake to this!

People - wake up!
Stop this nonsense!
Our industry is dying and with new Covid variants and 'idiots' in the US running around shooting at one another, how on earth could you expect that travelers from international destinations would even consider coming to visit us?
Unlike Egypt where random street shootings are not commonplace, the United States has become very unsafe.
In conclusion, let me reiterate my point of view quite clearly.
EGYPT IS SAFE!
And anyone who thinks differently ought to pull their heads out of the sand, look outside of their Zip Code, and really focus on what's going on in the world.
I must wonder if Egyptians ever ask the question "Is America Safe?" before journeying here for a visit.
