The closer we get to the end of our present evolutionary stage, the more dysfunctional the ego becomes, in the same way that a caterpillar becomes dysfunctional just before it transforms into a butterfly. A higher level of consciousness is arising even as the old dissolves. The ego’s voracious appetite for more is creating the pain and suffering that will eventually bring about its own destruction. Only the present moment can free us from our ego-based fears. This realization is the end of the suffering that the ego has created.?
