EGAT wins Green Mining Award for seven years in a row, reflecting excellence in good governance and eco-friendliness

On October 6, 2022, Mr. Prajuab Doncommul, Assistant Governor – Mae Moh Mine of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), received awards from the Limestone Mine for Chemical Industry Project and Mae Moh Lignite Mine Project in the Green Mining Award 2022, presented by Mr. Panuwat Triyangkulsri, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry, in the ceremony held by Department of Preliminary Industries and Mines at Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok.

EGAT Assistant Governor – Mae Moh Mine said that the Green Mining Award 2022 is a recognition that the Ministry of Industry offers to mining businesses to promote the uses of green mining standards for a better quality of mining operation under continual good governance and eco-friendliness. In 2022, two projects of EGAT were selected and certified. The Limestone Mine for Chemical Industry Project received the Outstanding Green Mining Continuous Award for seven years in a row; while the Mae Moh Lignite Mine Project received the Outstanding Green Mining Award. The awards reflect EGAT’s determination to mining operation with good governance, community participation, and social and environmental responsibility.

EGAT has won the Green Mining Award for 7 years since 2004 from the Limestone Mine for Chemical Industry Project, as a result of its commitments to green mining standards which are 1) social and environmental responsibility, 2) environmental impact mitigation, 3) safety and health control for workers and nearby community, 4) green space and scenery management, 5) transparency operation, and 6) maximum use of mineral sources. Besides, EGAT also ensures the environmental responsibility and participation of nearby community, continuously and sustainably.
