Efficient R&D in collaborative projects
When it comes to efficient technology transfer from R&D to company portfolio, change is the only constant. In Atos Research & Innovation (ARI) we were building and finetuning a comprehensive approach with a business centric view, in order to ensure that R&D project results have an opportunity to mature further and bring value to the rest of Atos.
This includes continuous identification and sharing of trends, Atos portfolio and strategic directions and other factors that impact desirability, feasibility and sustainability of project results. But this is not enough.
Two years ago, inspired by the previous attempts of so called “internal start-ups”, we started the idea of shuttles, a kind of internal accelerator for the most promising research assets. Innovation in shuttles must address both the external market and customer needs, as well as the internal capabilities by becoming an inherent part of the go-to-market strategy.
We also started to identify research and innovation efforts that have been too separate from the core business and strategy, since they need to “explore” either technology or market alternatives. Is this something exportable also to large collaborative projects, such as CONCORDIA (https://www.concordia-h2020.eu/)?
This “efficient innovation” approach will the topic of my talk on R&D Performance Management, two-day online event on 26-27 November 2020. Agenda and registration is available here:
