For the "Time Blocking" / "No Meeting Hours", I find it useful to put a few regular dummy meeting slots in my calendar each week, so that I can't be invited to other meetings. I use these slots for deep uninterrupted personal thinking. For that reason, I book the slots for my first hour in the office, when my brain is freshest and best able to handle complexity.
