Effective Time Management & its contribution to the process of Learning:
We have been running behind the hands of the clock ever since we learned about them. We have been following and obeying those pointed hands, which tend to represent the magnitude of the construct of time. The great physicist, Albert Einstein, explained in the theory of relativity: "Time is relative; its only worth depends upon what we do as it is passing." We all have experienced this in our day-to-day life. Thus, time is valued irrespective of its definition, which might change from person to person.
The value of time increases if it's managed effectively. It plays a crucial role in the process of one's learning. Time is staged at various levels. These levels are often time-bound. That is when effective time management comes in. To achieve a long-term goal, we need to define small-term goals which, need to be completed in a stipulated time. It forms a chain of time-defined actions. Time managed effectively is when the time-gap between the two consecutive tasks is minimum; and when the least errors occur in a particular task. To achieve this, one needs to undergo the process of planning and practice.
Planning involves making a defined structure to provide a pathway to perform various tasks in a limited period. It starts with the thinking process and taking into consideration the resources and practicalities. Practice, here, is not about repetitive performance but about the trial of techniques to evaluate the success rate. Planned tasks include a decided path but the results through that are not always predictable. It might lead to the formation of unplanned tasks, which are needed to be well managed. In such cases, instead of being rigid about the workflow, one needs to provide the required flexibility and work upon the solutions to the unplanned tasks.
The process of learning involves failure too. Time management does not promote failure-proof learning. It, at times, revolves around the concept of crisis management. In such times, one needs to take the situation into account and adjust the parameters of the short-term goals to reduce the possibility of complete disruption of the designed plan. It also deals with discarding or reducing the time of specific actions or tasks that might not be of much use in the further process.
Learning is ageless; however, it possesses the feature of being bound to time. It promotes the productivity of the learner. If the concept of the time were not this pivotal, it would not have controlled various activities of our lives.
