Effective role plays help developing exemplary leadership behavior in the work place
Role playing, one of the activities in facilitation workshops, allows individuals to experiment, make mistakes, and learn in a safe environment. It is a hands-on approach to skills development that can significantly enhance a leader’s ability to navigate real-world leadership challenges effectively.
Having real-life leadership experiences, participants can select any people-handling situations that happened recently or will take place in immediate future and convert such scenarios for immersive skill practices. Feedback received from the role play help participants to reflect on their strengths and areas for improvement, so that they can apply their newly acquired skills sooner and get better results.
In SLII sessions, we use a variety of tools to reinforce behavioral change of participants. For example, Style Conversation Starters outline steps and desirable leadership behavior within each step, as well as examples of what to say. Those who role play as leaders learn to structure their conversations and practice their skills right away.
Those who role-play as subordinates and/or observers will have the opportunity learning to provide instant feedback after each role play. They will have a different set of Leadership Style Checklists which enable them to evaluate which behavior has and has not been demonstrated, to provide critique and offer recommendations accordingly.
On top of that, the 12 challenges on Blanchard Exchange are useful tools and resources helping participants mastering their SLII skills after the session.
