Effective leadership Styles in Business
When we discuss leadership styles, we refer to a leader's characteristic behaviors when guiding, directing, motivating, and managing groups of people.
Being an effective leader is crucial to running a successful business. There are however many different ways to be an effective leader. While staying true to your individual values and style is essential, you should in my view also adapt a leadership style that suits you and your team and the business's overall goals. In other words, as a leader you must have the ability to adjust your style for the purpose of the team you manage and the company in general. Once you discover the leadership style that serves you and your team in the current environment, you will lead a formidable partnership and a successful business.
Just imagine the leaders that inspire you. Although each is successful, each leader is unique, and despite different leadership styles, they still manage to meet goals, motivate and, most importantly, inspire effectively and thereby creating an environment for success. .
Traditionally, we can categorize leadership into 5 or 6 main styles; however, the correlation between task and people-oriented leadership has recently created a brand-new array of leadership styles. The top most known and effective leadership styles are
1.?????Autocratic (yea we all know this guy!)
2.?????Delegative?
3.?????Democratic (difficult style in MENA)
4.?????Transformational
5.?????Transactional
6.?????Charismatic leadership
The most effective and consistent leadership style depends on the leader and the environment. The best skill a leader can possess is to understand the people working with him, asses and balance their needs and the company's objectives, while adapting their leadership methods to get the best results. It may take time to hone into this skill, but once you discover which one is best for you in your environment, the best result will come from the team, you are well on track for a successful business. Different organisation might require different styles, but in my view a modern workplace requires a democratic, delegative, or transformational style for optimal results.
Becoming a more transformational leader provides many benefits to the business. Transformational leadership is a?highly effective style that has the power to inspire positive changes in those who follow. Such leaders are energetic, passionate, and enthusiastic. Such leaders are involved in the process and focused on helping every team member succeed and reach their potential. Being in a company where someone has a clear vision of the business goals, a passion for what they are doing, and an ability to make the team feel motivated and accountable can have a massive impact on productivity. From a leader’s point of view, there are countless benefits and rewards in inspiring growth, promoting loyalty, and instilling confidence in team members.
There are four different elements of transformational leadership.
1.?????Intellectual stimulation: Transformational leaders not only challenge but they encourage creativity amongst the team.
2.?????Individualized consideration: Transformational leadership fosters supportive relationships, keeping lines of communication open for the team to share ideas freely.
3.?????Inspirational motivation: Transformational leaders have a defined vision to convey to the team. This, in turn, motivates employees to fulfill their goals.
4.?????Idealized influence: in this case, the transformational leader serves as a role model for followers. Being a role model leads to trust and respect within the team.
A strong and positive future vision plays a significant role. It is essential to not only believe in this vision yourself, but you've also got to empower and inspire others to get on board with it. Traits that can help you develop your transformational skills include being:
-Trustworthy
-Genuine
-Supportive
-Passionate
Although not always the best leadership choice for every situation, flexibility in every aspect of business remains vital. Sometimes it is necessary to alternate leadership styles to accommodate the organizations or the team’s changing needs depending on the situation.
Self-awareness is key. One way to improve your leadership skills is to assess your current leadership style and consider how your strengths can benefit the team you lead. Taking a step back and evaluating your skills will enable you to capitalize on your strengths and improve your weaknesses.

2 年Totally agreed, this according to #Afsaneh_Nahavandi’s book 7th edition. Some leaders are already able to categorize their current leadership style according to the situation but the break point how the followers see them ! And how they can inspire the team
