Effective Content Marketing Needs You To Bear The Pains of Content Creation and Copywriting

There’s a difference between copywriting and content writing.

From the outside, it’s not easy to tell the difference between the two. And while they may seem similar on paper, in practice they are quite different.

Many business owners can’t quite discern what it is they need– copywriting or content creation.

The difference between copywriting and content writing is that the first is a form of advertising, while the second is marketing communication.

Copywriting focuses on selling the brand through a specific selection of words that trigger purchase behaviour.

Content writing focuses on informing, educating and entertaining your audience to strengthen the brand’s value and image.

Now that we have a bit more clarity on the difference between these two let’s get into exploring two elements that often make content creation painful.

What Type Of Content To Post

For starters, this can be tricky as you don’t want to start off on a bad note. Understanding your service and the problem it solves for your audience gives you an idea of what the content can be about.

Once you know that the next objective is to decide what you want the content to do.

Educate, or inform or entertain your audience such that you are able to get their valuable attention.

This is done through blog posts, articles, newsletters (like this one) and social media accounts.?

The more relatable your content is to your audience, the more valuable it becomes, making your brand top of mind and the go-to source for information.

How To Make The Copy Trigger Need

Copy, or the written content, is a different kettle of fish!

Unlike content writing, copywriting doesn’t have the luxury of going deep into details to educate or entertain you. Copywriting is geared towards persuading your audience in making the buying decision.

It’s meant to trigger that sense of urgent need.

This is where use of specific types of words, that stimulate need, urgency, the fear of missing out, or avoiding loss, are used.

It’s what we see in advertisements across various media channels.

Knowing the difference between copywriting and content writing is important for your business growth. It’s how you, as a business owner, know what expertise your marketing requires at a point in time.

Doing this by yourself can get quite painful and complicated. Unless you have a in-house content team.

Without that resource support it is best to outsource and obtain services of specialists who are experts in either craft.

The entrepreneurial journey is hard already, don’t compound it with the additional burden of copywriting or content writing when you can outsource it.
