EEEEK - Thunder Bugs!!!!

I don't know if I should admit this or not, but a few weeks ago, changing the bedding, I came upon a dozen or so tiny little hopping bugs! Now I change our bedding once a week usually and there'd never been hopping bugs before! Horrified, I gathered up the sheets and put them through the hottest wash my machine could manage without going into apocolypse mode. I was curious about them though. They were about half the size of animal fleas (and neither we, nor our neighbours have pets). So I hastily input 'hopping bugs' to Google. The closest I could get to those I'd just annihilated was Thunder (or Storm) bugs. They are completed harmless but that was no compensation really for finding them in our bed! I double-checked that they weren't bedbugs. They weren't thank goodness. Bedbugs are flatter, much bigger and do not hop and neither me not Hubby had experienced any bites or anything. So the mystery remains. How did they get in? Anyway, we zapped the bed just to make sure, turned the mattress and put on clean bedding. Those tiny little hopping bugs have not reappeared. All this struck me (after the initial shock) as bemusing and I penned the following poem a couple of days later.

THUNDER BUGS

Tinny hopping bugs, how did you get in?

I looked you up, you're harmless, you do not bite or sting.

You were not there before, of you there was no sign,

And yet that day, there you were, which really wasn't fine!

Now please don't take this personally, but in the wash you went,

with water hot as it can be your time on Earth was spent.

Our bed is not a home for you, you simply wouldn't win.

But tiny little hopping bugs HOW DID YOU GET IN?
