Project Mercury is a partnership between Air University and the Innovatrium, designed to accelerate the needed culture change within the Air Force and its coalition partners. The program introduces participants to proven practices required to stimulate and manage innovation. Using collaborative seminars, real projects, and individual study, participants will learn frameworks for designing, developing, and implementing innovation within and across organizations. The program will provide not only the perspective, vocabulary, and skill base necessary – but also the tools to lead innovation-focused projects, people, and ventures through a practical project-based approach. By equipping Airmen with the tools, mindset, and strategies to innovate, we are creating pathways to a more secure and prosperous future.
Working part time, participants work collaboratively in diverse teams to explore multiple perspectives and challenge the status quo as they seek, test, and pitch new solutions to real prospective sponsors.?All problem sets will be focused on AFTC’s test mission. Graduates from the program will become Certified Professional Innovators from the University of Michigan’s School of Engineering.
The program is led by Dr. Ethan Eagle who has designed and guided workshops and credentialed innovation cohorts over more than 14 years for industry, academic, and military audiences. Ethan’s one-of-a-kind blend of deeply rooted academic credentials mixed with provocative, playful instigation spark individuals and teams to unleash their creative potential and boldly transform their ideas into reality. Ethan has published multiple high impact journal papers and received outstanding teaching awards. He currently coaches for the Innovatrium’s portfolio of clients including USAF, USSF, DoD, and NATO allies.

Secretary of Defense:?Showing Our Enduring Duty to America’s Service Members and Their Families
The well-being and readiness of our service members is a top priority for the Defense Department. Over the past three years, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III has taken action on issues critical to force and family stability, including securing affordable basic needs, making moves easier, strengthening support to families and expanding spousal employment.?As of Sept. 13, 2024, the Secretary has ordered additional concrete steps to provide tangible support to our force and to tackle pressing problems our people face. The new actions are sourced directly from service members' experiences and will further ensure the well-being and success of our force, so they can focus on their mission.?For more information, visit the Military One Source website (https://www.militaryonesource.mil/financial-legal/personal-finance/taking-care-of-people/)
