Edusity EdTech Newsletter for Monday, November 14, 2022: Toys that Teach STEAM Subjects
Today’s parents of young children face unbelievable pressure to raise super smart kids for an uncertain future. To that end, one acronym defines all educational focus right now. It is STEAM: Science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Engaging kids with STEAM subjects is now also a motivation behind holiday shopping and gifting. The Toy Association released its recommendations for toys that teach steam earlier today.
The Toy Association’s Holiday 2022 STEAM Toy Guide includes 30 officially accredited STEAM toys. The list of products includes hands-on toys and activities that engage kids in earth sciences, engineering, coding, and other STEAM topics.
The toys on the list have all earned the official STEAM Stamp of Approval after passing?the strict criteria set in?The Toy Association's STEAM Toy Assessment Framework.
"These curated STEAM toys are wonderful options for parents and gift-givers seeking unique, educational, and engaging gifts for children this holiday season," said?Anna Yudina, senior director of marketing initiatives at The Toy Association. "Each toy will spark kids' curiosity and open them up to new worlds to explore, while supporting independent play and age-appropriate learning goals. The list below offers richly rewarding, skill-building play for children as young as 18 months old, all the way up to tweens and teens.
