Edusity EdTech News for Monday, December 5, 2022: Understanding Brain Augmentation
The trends in EdTech recognize that no matter how smart you are, your brain probably needs support.
The possibilities may not all lead to a cyborg future, but the stuff of science fiction is being realized in the field of brain augmentation. Brain-computer interfaces are supporting the return of functions to paralyzed appendages. Brain implants are already starting to deliver targeted medical treatments for depression. The future implications of brain augmentation on every field are immense, especially for teaching, learning and the technologies that support them. For those interested in getting in front of the issue, you have until Friday to get to Cambridge Massachusetts for the Augmenting Brains event.
The free, in-person event is scheduled for December 9 at the newly-opened? 美国麻省理工学院 's Museum and the MIT Media Lab. Topics to be addressed include living implants, memory fabrication, brain stimulation, holograms and dreams.
Speakers include Steven Kane, one of the producers of Halo, Professor Pattie Maes of the MIT Media Lab; Media Arts and Sciences, and Distinguished Professor of Psychological Science Elizabeth Loftus of the UCI School of Social Ecology.
