Educational Foundation Awards Scholarships

HOUSTON -- The Federation of Houston Professional Women Educational Foundation is pleased to announce its 2018 scholarship winners.
“Our organization has been providing much-needed scholarship monies to women pursuing their higher educations for the last 25 years,” said board president Dr. Sue Bradshaw, owner of Lone Star Chiropractic. “To apply, applicants need to have at least 30 hours of college credits, have a 3.0 or better grade point average and be attending school in Texas.
“Our scholarship recipients are pursuing a variety of different academic interests and are at various stages of their educational careers in undergrad and graduate school. We even have some ladies who are pursuing their doctoral degree.”
This year’s recipients are:
· Bonnie Lewis, who is pursuing her PhD at Texas Women’s University;
· Elizabeth Labra, attending University of Texas at Dallas;
· Lenor Ramirez, attending the University of Texas at Austin;
· Amanda Herrera, attending graduate school at the University of Houston;
· Gabrielle Orion, attending Texas A&M University;
· Ayushi Patel, attending graduate school at the University of Houston Downtown;
· Selena Palacios, attending the University of Houston Downtown;
· Patricia Thai, attending Rice University;
· Pauline Njuku, attending graduate school at Prairie View A&M University;
· Suzanne Short, attending graduate school at Texas Tech University;
· Priel Meir, attending the University of Houston; and
· Sharon Bowers, attending graduate school at the University of Houston Downtown.
Scholarship winners will be recognized at the FHPW Annual Women of Excellence Gala in September.
“The annual gala, held by the FHPW, is a big fundraiser for us,” Bradshaw said. “We soon will be launching a scholarship sponsorship program, where individuals, groups or companies can have a scholarship named for them. Details are being finalized now. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels to learn how you can get involved and help us help more women with their college dreams.”
The application for the 2019 program will be available Jan. 1 through March 31 at www.fhpw.org/ef.
