Education Sector: 5G Will Be a Game Changer

A variety of technologies are enabled by 5G networks, including smart homes, autonomous vehicles, drones for aerial photography, health, and mission-critical applications, and Industrial IoT. Based on the experiences of end users, 5G networks are categorized into interactive 5G services, intuitive 5G services, omnipresent 5G services, autonomous 5G services, and public 5G services. The higher education landscape has been drastically altered by rapid technological advances. With globalization changing the flow of education, changes in education are occurring. A phenomenon such as 5G connectivity affects the educational world of the nation through e-learning. Developed nations, however, have long used it because it is thought to have different advantages for teaching and learning. The development of 5G infrastructure or adaptation of it is cost-prohibitive, and devices that use non- compatible batteries drain their batteries rapidly, resulting in range issues due to short frequency waves, among others. As the system becomes more refined, it is possible to correct the initial drawbacks and challenges.

In the education ecosystem, there are many reasons to choose a 5G network:

Classrooms That are Smart: Teachers benefit from IoT by saving time. Despite the fact that everything works well, it takes time to set up equipment and receive reviews in class. The Internet of Things (IoT) on 5G allows teachers to automatically log in as soon as they reach the classroom. With the launch of 5G higher bandwidth, manual administrative activities are automated, and reviews can be provided online by students. Throughout entire lectures and presentations, higher bandwidth can help signals stay good, avoiding dropped links.

Fast Video Downloads: YouTube is a favorite educational resource of the young generation, which makes sense since they are fond of videos. The download time for a high-definition video on 4G currently ranges from minutes to hours. Having said that, the launch of 5G will make it possible to download feature-length videos in a few seconds, maybe even less.

Learn More Adaptively: Each student has a different learning style and capability. In the classroom, students will be able to continue their studies using their phone or laptop with the same levels of data and responsiveness that they have in the classroom with 5G. 5G enables learners to access the same data and activities regardless of distance or location.

A Holographic Instructor is a Reality: Using 5 G-enabled smart classrooms, students can receive holographic instruction from a holographic instructor who beams in to lead discussions on specialized subjects; seamless augmented reality environments that will engage students with various learning needs; and connected technologies that may help international students overcome barriers to education.

There will be a delay between now and when all these improvements are implemented. The emerging technology of 5G is already being used by many EdTech companies to enable smart classrooms, hologram teaching bots, and extensive AR/VR-based digital teaching-learning methodologies. It will still take some time before smartphones and other digital devices are capable of using 5G networks, and ultra-high-speed implementations are available.
