Razzamataz Theatre Schools launch Training Platform?

The ongoing development of our students and staff is incredibly important to us. Many of our current franchisees started out with us as students, teachers, assistants or even work experience placements. They fall in love with the ethos of Razzamataz and what we offer children, and their passion makes them incredible franchisees.?

Even though many will not have any business experience, our training, support, and mentorship enables them to create successful schools. We are currently building on this with the launch of our Teacher Training Platform, that will give teachers and staff access to information and advice about franchising and the business side of running a school. It also ensures that our current franchisees are considering their own succession planning because our data shows that resales are popular with former staff members.?

The Teacher Training Platform enables us to assist with the career progression of everyone that works for Razzamataz, giving many people the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions.?

To launch this exciting initiative, we are delighted to announce the Razzamataz Team Celebration Day on Sunday 13th November at the iconic Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden, London. In attendance will be many Razzamataz teachers and staff members, as well as people who are currently considering joining the network as a franchisee to open their own school.?

Headlining the event is West End and Broadway musical theatre star Kerry Ellis, who has fast become recognised as the leading lady of musicals from her starring roles in sell-out shows. Kerry has also achieved chart success as a recording artist signed to Universal Decca with her debut album Anthems. Kerry will be sharing her story, offering advice about working in the performing arts industry and taking the attendees through a vocal health session.?

Former student Peter Reid, who has appeared in West End shows, We Will Rock You, Matilda, Hamilton and is a current cast member of Marry Poppins will be speaking about his time as a Razzamataz student as well as delivering choreography from hit show Hamilton.?

Helen Bell, franchisee of Razzamataz Sheffield will be inspiring others with her story about how she started out as a work experience placement with Founder Denise to progressing to teacher to becoming one of the most successful franchisees in the network, winning multiple awards and celebrating ten years of her school. Helen will also be introducing the Training Academy and what it will offer teachers. Everything from lesson plan ideas through to ensuring that you are keeping up with current trends to keep lessons dynamic. Helen will also be explaining about the diplomas offered to all Razzamataz staff and how they can help with their career progression.?

During the day, we will also touch on the elements of being freelance and ensuring your own personal branding is on point as well.

Former franchisee from Razzamataz Medway, Emily Conor, is now part of the Head Office team and will be delivering an acting workshop and finally, all those who attend will be able to book into a one-to-one session with Founder Denise Hutton-Gosney and the Head Office team.?

Through this organic growth, we hope to significantly expand in the UK, while ensuring standards are kept high with franchisees that have been involved with Razzamataz from the ground up. Razzamataz is proud to be contributing to growing our franchising community, continuing to raise the profile of franchising and creating tomorrow’s franchisees.

From work experience to theatre school owner

Matty Aitchison-Rayson took over Razzamataz West Cumbria in August 2018 and combines his position as a theatre school owner with a part time role within the marketing and recruitment department at the University of Cumbria.

His franchising journey started doing work experience in June 2010 after watching his sister in a show at Razzamataz Carlisle. “I instantly had a vision that I wanted to be involved with Razzamataz for the long term and when I approached the owner Denise, she really supported me with this,” says Matty. “I was involved with everything from voluntary work experience, through to a classroom assistant, teacher, manager and occasional work for Head Office. When the opportunity came to take over the West Cumbria school, I didn’t give it a second thought. From the age of 16, it was my dream to run my own theatre school business but without Razzamataz, I wouldn’t know where to start.”
