In the Union Budget 2025-26, the Ministry of Education has been allocated ?1,28,650 crore, marking a 12.8% increase from the previous year's revised estimate of ?1,14,054 crore. This includes ?78,572 crore for the Department of School Education & Literacy and ?50,078 crore for the Department of Higher Education.
- Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Education: To integrate AI into educational methodologies and research, a new centre will be established with an outlay of ?500 crores.
- Expansion of Medical Education: An additional 10,000 seats will be added in medical colleges and hospitals during 2025-26, contributing to the goal of adding 75,000 seats over the next five years.
- IIT Infrastructure Development: Additional infrastructure will be developed in five IITs established after 2014, enabling education for 6,500 more students. Hostel and campus expansions at IIT Patna are also planned.
- Atal Tinkering Labs: Over the next five years, 50,000 labs will be set up in government schools to foster innovation and a scientific temper among students.
- Broadband Connectivity: The BharatNet project will provide broadband connectivity to all government secondary schools and primary health centres in rural areas.
- Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak Scheme: This initiative will provide digital-format Indian language books for school and higher education, aiding students in better understanding their subjects.
- National Centres of Excellence for Skilling: Five centres will be established with global expertise to equip youth with the skills required for "Make for India, Make for the World" manufacturing.
