Educating Well Integrity Awareness

"Embrace change, for it leads to growth and opportunity."
Talking about well integrity, many people think that it is only a wellhead maintenance job, painting, lubrication, and greasing.
Field operators only record the shut-in casing pressure from the gauge without understanding what it is for and why it is always recorded.
On the other hand, small leaks are always tolerated and not followed up immediately.
Management focuses their attention on production figures, without checking the problems that are occurring in the well.
Servicing a well if it has already become problematic will take time and result in a large loss of production.
That's where well integrity plays a role in getting indications, finding problems, and determining the repairs to be made.
Concern for well integrity, in addition to securing wells so that they continue to produce properly, also maintains the business image in the eyes of investors and the environment.
Because well integrity is the responsibility of everyone in the upstream oil and gas business.
Thank you HCML Sun Kian Han Liu Xiaopo BOBBY Harsawan Ursula Fajarrenaningtyas for inviting Dr. Gordon Duncan and educating awareness of well integrity, together with Harry Eddyarso and Dave Taylor whose expertise is highly recognized. Thank you also Prayoga Wahyu Pratama from OPAC Barata to make the discussion productive.

2 个月Pak Afriandi. This is a very noble call-to-action. I’m not sure what Indonesia has in place as minimum standards. I can see IOGP 485 on https://www.my-spread.com but this was posted in 2018. I would imagine that there are working groups developing similar or updated versions. Here’s hoping that Indonesia can lead the pack and show the world that all our responsible operators take seriously their obligations to human, environmental (our planet and those living organisms that we share it with) and investor well being. As we heard this week, there are countries that will not allow companies to bid for new licences, or extend their license-to-operate if they do not take this seriously. Just today, we can read if a major operator who has been forced to shut in production due to flagrant disregard to the UK regulatory system. Together we can all make this planet a better place whilst safeguarding energy security for all. We are hoping to work with a client who is rewriting the rule book on exploiting sour gas resources.
